Marco Núñez is leading our EU/Competition team. He particularly advises on State aid, cartel, trade, public procurement/government contract, EU and administrative law issues. Over the past approx. 30 years, he has represented numerous German and international companies (from several branches of trade such as e.g. infrastructure, transport & logistics, IT, trade, energy, and others) before German and EU agencies and courts.

Marco is fluent in English, Spanish and French. He has authored several commentaries and other publications, e.g. in State aid law. His leading expertise in antitrust/competition and State aid law has been and keeps being confirmed by Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers, Legal500, JUVE, Who's Who and other market observers.

Marco studied law in Hamburg, Geneva, Cambridge and New York (Columbia University) and received further legal education e.g. in Brussels (EU Commission). Prior to co-founding Chatham Partners, he was an equity partner in the Hamburg and Brussels offices of the global law firm Latham & Watkins for many years.

In recent years, Marco has authored, inter alia, the following publications:

• Several chapters on State aid law in Münchener Kommentar zum Wettbewerbsrecht (Munich Commentary on Competition Law), Volume 5: Beihilfenrecht (State Aid Law), 4th edition 2022, on State guarantees, State aid for sea and inland ports as well as State aid in the sectors of land transport (esp. road transport), rail transport, inland waterway transport, intermodal transport, and maritime transport
• Several chapters in Säcker/Montag, State Aid Law, on inter alia Land Transport (in particular Road Transport), Railways, Inland Water Transport, Intermodal Transport, Maritime Transport, Guarantees, Real Estate Transactions
