Of Counsel
Nicholas Bliss
Nicholas Bliss was a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP for over 20 years, where he established and led its global Infrastructure and Transport sector group for six of those years. During his time at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, he became a recognised market leader in the areas of infrastructure finance and project delivery, which invariably involves a public/private interface. He was an innovative participant in the development of the PPP market in the UK through the 1990s and 2000s and later expanded this development throughout Europe, the Middle East and North America.
With the rise of infrastructure as a recognised investment asset class from the early 2000s, Nick became increasingly involved in infrastructure M&A activity and regularly acted for infrastructure funds, sponsors and governments as well as commercial and development banks. Recent transactions of note have included advising the UK government on the Thames Tideway Tunnel and the successful consortium on the recent D4R7 Slovakian Road PPP, the largest European “greenfield” infrastructure project in 2016. He has written extensively and speaks often at engagements related to infrastructure and project finance. Nick is also concurrently involved in a number of infrastructure projects as a principal and strategic adviser.
