Elbtower: Commission for Urban Development approves zoning plan

The NDR reports: On January 19, 2021, the Commission for Urban Development approved the adoption of the HafenCity 16 zoning plan by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The HafenCity 16 zoning plan forms the legal basis for the development of the Elbtower. The Commission for Urban Development did not require any further approval by the parliament. This means that the HafenCity 16 zoning plan can be adopted by the Senate in the next step. Alternatively, the senate can submit the development plan to the parliament for resolution as a law.

With the approval of the Commission for Urban Development, the HafenCity 16 zoning plan has reached the preliminary approval stage in accordance with Section 33 of the German Building Code (BauGB), so that building permits can now be issued on its basis. SIGNA submitted the building application for the Elbtower on 23 December 2020.
